This is what happened
The victim’s family filed a formal police complaint in this regard on Monday. The complaint said that a 13-year-old girl was gang-raped in Kalinagar area, which comes under Ramkrishna Nagar police station area. As soon as the complaint was filed, the police launched a search operation. The six accused were arrested shortly afterwards.
The minors made a video of the crime
A police officer said one of the accused had also taken a video of the incident on his mobile phone. He also shared it with other boys. Police have recovered the phone as evidence of a crime.
Accused booked under POCSO
A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and the trial will be conducted under juvenile proceedings, the official said. The victim and all the accused, who are in the age bracket of 13 to 15 years, belong to families of tea garden workers.
