A house in Rapad village in Bhikiyasan of Almora district was hit by a landslide last night. Four people living in the house died while a woman was rescued by villagers, informed PIB, Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday chaired a review meeting to review the situation in the city and the state in view of heavy rains in Haldwani, Nainital.
Speaking to ANI, Dhami said, “Discussed on resumption of lives, property, roads, rescue operations, has directed officials to clear debris from the landslide so that road connectivity can resume.”
Earlier, Dhami had informed that 34 people have died due to heavy rains while 5 people are missing in Uttarakhand.
“Those who have lost their homes will be given a compensation of Rs 1,09,000, the families of the deceased Rs 4 lakh, possible help will be given to those who have lost their animals,” he had said.
The CM further assured that all possible help would be given to those who lost their animals due to heavy rains and landslides in the state. Dhami conducted an aerial survey of the areas affected by heavy rains.
According to the State Disaster Management Secretary, Uttarakhand has recorded more than 200 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. (ANI)
