New Delhi: A local passenger plane crashed in Lake Victoria on Sunday morning while en route to the northern city of Bukoba, according to authorities, who added that rescue efforts were underway.

“There was an accident of a Precision Air plane… that crashed into the water 100 meters from the airport,” regional police chief William Mwambaghil told reporters. No information was immediately available on the number of passengers on board.
