A speeding truck collided with a bus in Odisha, killing six and injuring 20


Bhubaneswar: At least six people were killed in a tragic accident on the Jharsuguda-Sambalpur Biju Expressway in Odisha. The accident occurred on Friday night when a speeding truck loaded with coal collided with a bus.

According to preliminary information, 20 others were injured in this accident, some of whom were said to be in critical condition.

The accident occurred near Power House Chowk on Jharsuguda Bypass Road. The bus was carrying employees from the JSW plant to Jharsuguda.

According to the information, the deceased were returning after completing their work in the factory at the time of the accident.

The injured were taken to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Borla, Sambalpur.

Giving information to ANI news agency, Deputy Inspector of Police Jharsuguda, N Mohapatra, said, “6 killed and more than 20 injured when a bus carrying company employees had an accident in Jharsuguda after a coal-loaded truck collided with a bus. Most of the employees were seriously injured. 10 people were referred to Hospital in Burla, Sambalpur, and 14 people are undergoing treatment here.”

It is feared that the death toll in the accident will rise. The DM and Jharsuguda officials have arrived at the hospital.
