Aam Aadmi Party may send Harbhajan Singh to Rajya Sabha from Punjab

new Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may send former cricketer Harbhajan Singh to Rajya Sabha in the biennial elections from Punjab.

According to sources, the newly elected AAP government of the state can also hand over the command of sports university to Harbhajan Singh. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has promised to set up a sports university in Jalandhar. Soon after AAP’s victory, Singh, popularly known as Bhajji, took to Twitter

Congratulations Mann.

“Congratulations to Aam Aadmi Party and my friend #BhagwantMann on becoming our new CM..Great to hear that he will take oath as the new CM in Khatkarkalan village of Bhagat Singh…what a picture…this pride It’s a moment for Mata ji”, he wrote.

For AAP, this is the party’s first victory in Punjab, where it won 92 of the 117 assembly constituencies. Five Rajya Sabha seats will fall vacant next month and the Election Commission has already announced the dates for biennial elections to the Upper House of Parliament. If needed, polling will be held on March 31.

AAP’s strength in Rajya Sabha is expected to increase from 3 to 8 after the Rajya Sabha elections. The party is likely to announce the names for the seats soon. (ANI)
