New Delhi: Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan on Friday interacted with fans through an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Instagram. That’s when he talked about mental health and his view on the subject was based on his own experience. One of the netizens asked Ira: “How did you beat depression?”. Responding to this question, Ira, who opened up about battling depression on several occasions, said: “Know yourself. Find out what you like. Who you like, who you don’t like and you What do you want and then you’ll try and start living my life that way. I guess.” She added the hashtag #mentalhealth to her post.
Last year, in an Instagram post, Ira revealed that she has been “medically depressed” for over four years and added in the video, “Hi, I’m depressed. I’ve been there for over four years now. One Went to the doctor and I’m medically depressed. I’m doing much better now. For over a year now, I’ve wanted to do something for mental health, but I wasn’t sure what to do.” Ira recalled her personal struggle with depression and added in the video, “I’ve decided to take you on a journey — my journey — and see what happens. In another video, she talked about feeling that there is a part of her that doesn’t believe in her and thinks she is overreacting. Emphasizing that there is no immediate threat to her life, Ira said, “I don’t do drugs, I don’t harm myself, I don’t drink too much.” He continued, “My depression doesn’t work that way. I don’t feel immediately life-threatening. It’s not like my depression manifests.” Then he talked about “stuffing up” and crashing when it all became too much to handle.
For those unaware, Ira is the youngest of Aamir Khan’s two children with his first wife Reena Dutta.
