AAP approaches Supreme Court after Centre’s alleged…

New Delhi: After the Supreme Court verdict, the AAP government came up with a list of bureaucrats to be transferred, but the center blocked the decision.

In a major victory for the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court unanimously empowered the Delhi Assembly to represent the will of the people.

The real power of public administration should rest with the elected government in a democratic form of government, the bench said, adding that the power of the central government in matters where both the Center and the states can legislate “is limited to ensure that governance is not by the central government took over.”

The Kejriwal government sacked Ashish More, the Delhi government’s service department secretary, hours after the verdict.

At a press conference, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a massive administrative shake-up in the government and threatened punishment for officers who “obstructed” public works.
