MLA Atishi, a special guest in this program, said that we often read in the newspapers how lakhs of graduates and Ph.D. Holders have applied for handful of job vacancies for which they are ineligible. And if we look at the figures of the Department of Personnel and Training, in 2014-2022, about 22 crore job applications were received for central government jobs, out of which only 7.22 lakh people were selected. He further said that these figures are really disturbing and show how our education system teaches our children to find jobs only after completing their studies.
He also said that unemployment is the biggest problem in India today and one of the reasons behind this is that our children lack the necessary skills to get hired in the market. Our government wants to help students learn the skills of the 21st century. We aim to help children develop an entrepreneurial mindset and prepare them for the challenges of the future. With this goal, we started Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum and Business Blasters Program in Government Schools of Delhi, so that our students become future job creators and not job seekers.
When every child learns business skills and establishes his own enterprise and creates opportunities for others, then only India’s unemployment problem will be solved – Vidhayak Atishi
Talking about the Business Blasters programme, he highlighted that the program helped the students to explore their entrepreneurial skills. Under this program, the Kejriwal government gave seed money of Rs 2000 to help develop startup ideas to around 3 lakh students studying in class 11 and 12 in government schools in Delhi. Over 51,000 business ideas were generated from this seed money of Rs 60 crore given to Delhi government school students last year, the top 126 business ideas were selected for the Business Blasters Expo and Summit. The selected teams got an opportunity to meet industrialists and eminent entrepreneurs from across the country. A cumulative investment pledge of over Rs 15 crore was also made.
During the event, Atishi felicitated leaders and budding entrepreneurs for their outstanding contribution in the field of business and entrepreneurship. Organized by White Pages International in collaboration with the UK Asian Business Council, the event saw the presence of over 200 business leaders and CEOs from 12 Asian countries.
