The Uttarakhand police on Sunday said the investigation into the Ankita Bhandari murder, which also involved the expelled son of a BJP leader, is almost over, pending Narco tests of the accused.
“An application will be filed in court for the drug test of Ankita’s killers, including main accused Pulkit Arya. After taking the drug test, things will be clear. Our investigation is almost complete,” V Murgeshan, chief spokesperson of the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Uttarakhand Police Department, told a press conference, according to a report by news agency ANI.
What is the Ankita Bhandari murder case?
Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old receptionist at a resort near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, was allegedly murdered by the resort owner and two of his accomplices.
The three accused, including Pulkit Arya, the owner of the resort, were arrested within 24 hours after the case was handed over to the police from the revenue department on September 22, an official said.
The accused said that on September 18, they threw Bhandari into the Chilla canal. Ankita’s body was found on September 24.
The main accused Pulkit Arya is the son of former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinod Arya. The party expelled Vinod Arya from the BJP after Pulkit’s name surfaced in the case.
