Adani Transmission awarded 400 kV Karur Transmission Project


Ahmedabad: Adani Transmission Limited (ATL), India’s largest private sector power transmission company and part of the diversified Adani Group, has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the acquisition of Karur Transmission Limited.

ATL won the project through Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process and obtained LOI for the Central RE Clearance Project. ATL will build, own, operate and maintain the transmission project in Tamil Nadu for a period of 35 years.

The Karur Transmission Limited Project, incorporated by PFC Consulting Limited, mainly consists of the following elements –

• Setting up of 2x500MVA, 400/230 kV Karur Pooling Station (at the location between Karur Wind Energy Area and Tiruppur Wind Energy Area)

LILO of both the circuits of Puglur-Puglur (HVDC) 400 kV D/C line at Karur PS

The ATL execution of the project will help in extracting renewable energy from the Karur-Tirupur region and the estimated capital expenditure will be more than Rs 200 crore.

Winning this project cements ATL’s position as India’s largest operating private power transmission company and moves it closer to its target of setting up 20,000 ckt km of transmission lines by 2022. The project will also allow the company to assist the Indian government in its quest to acquire electricity. For all by 2022.
