New Delhi: The Governor General’s office on Tuesday returned the documents related to service matters to the Delhi government after the Supreme Court ordered that the transfer and posting of bureaucrats in the national capital should be under the elected government.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the elected government in Delhi has jurisdiction over the work of the service department. Matters related to land, police and public order remain the responsibility of the deputy governor.

An official said, “The LG Secretariat has returned the service case files to the Delhi government for further action as per the Supreme Court verdict.

The Aam Aadmi Party government has been at loggerheads with the LG several times over the transfer of government officials.
