New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday gave his nod of sorts to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement that the Congress should support strong regional parties in their state.
Earlier, at a press conference at Nabanna State Secretariat, Mamta said, “Where Congress is strong, its party is ready to support”. He said that where a regional political party is strong, BJP cannot fight there. Strong parties in a given area must fight together. I support karnataka congress but it should not fight bengal TMC. Congress should help TMC in Bengal, he added.
Responding to questions on Mamata’s comment, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee, KCR and various political parties are trying to find a way out. Where any party is strong, the elections will be fought under their leadership”.

Mamata and Akhilesh’s statement came after the Congress won a landslide victory in Karnataka.
Mamata Banerjee said I am neither a magician nor an astrologer. What will happen in the future? I can’t say that, but one thing I can say, where regional parties are strong, there BJP cannot fight. The vote cast in Karnataka is an empowerment against the BJP government.
He said that Congress is strong with 200 seats, so if Congress wants to achieve good results, it has to make sacrifices in certain areas. Akhilesh Yadav should be given priority in UP. Congress should talk to Akhilesh Yadav.
Congress is all set to form the government in Karnataka as it has won 135 seats out of 240 seats.
