All accused sent to police remand, AAP protests

New Delhi: In a recent development in the Kanjhawala death case, a Rohini court on Tuesday sent all the five accused, Manoj Mittal, Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan and Mithun to police custody for three days.

The accident took place on Sunday where a woman lost her life after she was allegedly hit by a car in Delhi. The woman was dragged for almost 12 kilometers after being hit by the car.

The Delhi Police had arrested all the five accused till Monday morning. “According to our investigation, it was a fatal accident. All five people in the car were arrested. They will be produced in court today. The post-mortem of the deceased woman will be conducted through a medical board,” the DCP said.

Earlier on Monday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed for strict punishment against the culprits.

“It is unfortunate that a group of men dragged a woman under their car and she died. I appeal that all the accused be severely punished and hanged. This is the rarest of crimes,” said the Delhi CM.

Later in the day, AAP workers gathered in large numbers outside the Delhi Governor’s residence while demonstrating for strict action against the culprits, including death penalty.

Speaking to the media, AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said that one of the accused in the case, Manoj Mittal, is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Lt. Col. Vinai Kumar Saxena, the governor, and senior Delhi Police officials are trying to deliberately hide information. .
