Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reach Srinagar on Saturday (October 23) on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir amid escalating terror attacks in the Valley.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reach Srinagar on Saturday (October 23) on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir amid escalating terror attacks in the Valley.

This will be his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since bifurcation of the state into two union territories and abrogation of Article 370.

During his visit, Amit Shah will chair security review meetings and participate in other events.

There has been a flurry of civilian killings in Kashmir with civilians being shot dead by terrorists in the past few days.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that it killed two terrorists, including a Lashkar-e-Taiba TRF commander, during an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir’s Sopat area. Police said the brief encounter took place on Wednesday evening. Two terrorists were involved in the killing of two non-local laborers in Kulgam.
