Amit Shah has promised to bring AIIMS to Delhi if voted to power

Thoubal (Manipur): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday promised that an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would be built here if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power again. Shah also accused the Congress party of their non-performance regarding AIIMS.

The Union Minister said, “The Congress government could not bring AIIMS in Manipur in 15 years. We have announced to set up AIIMS as soon as the government is formed again.”

Addressing a public meeting in Manipur’s Thoubal, the Home Minister drew attention to the party’s success as the economy picked up after the BJP came to power. “The Congress had left Manipur’s economy at Rs 21,000 crore. Our government took it to Rs 35,000 crore.

He said that the BJP government worked for the development of Manipur’s economy while the Congress could not take it forward.

Meanwhile, Shah along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Manipur CM N Biren Singh had lunch at BJP candidate Shyam Singh’s house in Thoubal.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that an AIIMS center would be set up in Manipur while the BJP government would work for development of sports infrastructure and startups.

PM Modi said, “We are also planning to build an AIIMS in Manipur. This is the time of Atmanirbhar Bharat. This decade is the decade of development and progress and Manipur is moving fast in this direction today.”

The first phase of polling in Manipur took place on Monday while the second phase of the 60-member assembly will go to polls on March 5. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
