Annie Arnoux receives the Nobel Prize for Literature


New Delhi: This year’s Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to French author Anne Arnoux.

Arnoux, 82, was cited for “the courage and clinical acumen with which she uncovers the roots, mechanisms and collective restrictions of individual memory,” the Nobel committee said.

Winner announced on Thursday

The permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, Matt Malm, announced the winner in Stockholm on Thursday. Monday marked the start of a week of Nobel Prize announcements, in which a researcher who deciphered Neanderthal DNA was awarded a prize in medicine.

Three scientists shared the Nobel Prize in Physics on Tuesday for demonstrating that microscopic particles can maintain a relationship with each other even when separated. Three scientists who joined molecules to create methods that could be used to create more precise drug designs received a chemistry prize on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, they continue with chemistry, and on Thursday they study literature. The Economics Prize will be awarded on October 10, while the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday.
