Another bus fire incident in Maharashtra’s Nashik


Mumbai: Another fire in a passenger bus has been reported from Maharashtra’s Nashik on Saturday. No injuries have been reported in this accident so far.

The fire broke out in a moving Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus.

In a similar incident earlier on Saturday, around 11 people were killed and 21 others injured after a bus coming from Yavatmal to Mumbai collided with a truck going from Nashik to Pune.

Soon after the collision with the truck, the bus caught fire, killing 11 passengers, Nashik Police Commissioner Jayant Naiknavare said.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed in a statement that 11 people died in the accident and 21 others were injured and are being treated at a city hospital.

Expressing grief over the unfortunate incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a compensation of Rs 5,000 to the kin of the deceased.

In another incident, a fire broke out on Saturday in New Tilak Nagar area, near Lokmanya Tilak Terminal in Mumbai.

“Level 2 fire was reported in New Tilak Nagar area near Lokmanya Tilak Terminal around 2:43 PM. Fire engines on site. No loss of life reported yet,” Mumbai Fire Department said.
