Arun Bali passes away at 79 in Mumbai; fans pay tribute


New Delhi: Veteran actor Arun Bali, known for his role as Kunwar Singh in Swabhimaan, breathed his last today (October 7, 2022) at the age of 79. According to news agency ANI, the actor died in Mumbai. His latest film, GoodBye, hit theaters today (October 7, 2022).

After hearing the news, his fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late actor. One person wrote: “God bless his soul. He was very good in all his roles.” Another tweeted: “He was such a natural actor. REST IN PEACE.” A fan also said: “Saw him fighting for life and surviving the reel but he’s saying goodbye to us on release day.”

Earlier this year, the actor was diagnosed with a rare neuromuscular disease and hospitalized. Nupur Alankar, who is a member of CINTAA, told the ETimes: “I was on duty with Mr. Arun Bali when I sensed that something was very wrong with his speech and called him out. I then tried to contact his son Ankush but could not get through. Then I called Rajeev Menon who is Ankush’s colleague and got his other number and advised him to take Mr. Arun to the hospital immediately.

He further said that his daughter told him that she had been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. Nupur said, “Today I got a call on Arun ji’s number… he couldn’t speak clearly at all. His daughter Itishree informed me about his condition. I’m really worried. I pray for his speedy recovery.”


The actor was seen in a number of films and television series, including the 1991 drama Chanakya, where he played King Porus. He is also known for his roles as Chief Minister of undivided Bengal Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy in Hey Ram (2000) and Harshvardhan Wadhwa in Kumkum. He was seen in films like 3 Idiots, Kedarnath and Panipat among others.

Arun was last seen in the film Goodbye which was released on Friday. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rashmika Mandanna, Neena Gupta, Sunil Grover, Pavail Gulati, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elli AvrRam, Sahil Mehta, Shivin Narang and Abhishekh Khan.
