Queensland: India’s women’s Test captain Mithali Raj on Wednesday confirmed that Harmanpreet Kaur has been ruled out of the upcoming pink ball Test against Australia. India and Australia will face each other in the pink ball Test starting on Thursday. This will be the first Test for India’s women in lights.
“I think our first session with the pink ball was yesterday. Yes, everyone had a different experience because we are not used to the pink ball, it goes on a lot. I think that’s our first impression of pink. Got with the ball,” Mithali said during a virtual press conference. “We are very happy with the way the three fast bowlers bowled in the ODI series. Jhulan is the most experienced and she is helping others – Pooja Vastrakar and Meghna. I think we have some quality fast bowlers in Meghna and Pooja. We also have Shikha Pandey. I think it’s a good pace department that we have now.”
When asked about Harmanpreet Kaur missing the ODI series, Mithali said: “She is out for the Test match.”
“Definitely, the most important thing is that we had two Tests this year. We played one in England and now we are playing against Australia. If this becomes a regular feature in bilateral series, women’s cricket will grow. I get this response the most. Today’s players who play in different leagues also like to play longer formats, if it becomes regular, it will be great for women’s cricket.” Women’s Cricket.
When asked about the Indian bowling attack, Mithali said: “We are definitely taking confidence from the ODI format where we were able to pick up eight-nine wickets. They did a good job in ODIs, Tests are a little different. Can’t really. Say from outside that we are going to take 20 wickets by scoring heavily, our target will be to take 20 wickets.” (ANI)
