New Delhi: Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was attacked during a political rally, creating chaos in the country.

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam condemned the attack on Imran Khan in a tweet. He said, “Strongly condemn the heinous attack on @ImranKhanPTI. May Allah keep Kaptaan safe and protect our beloved Pakistan, Ameen.”

The former prime minister was injured on Thursday after shots were fired at his reception camp in Gujranwala town. He suffered bullet injuries on his right leg.

Several people were injured, including PTI leader Faisal Javed.

The 70-year-old Khan led a rally in the capital, Islamabad, to demand early elections after he was ousted in April.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident in the “strongest words” and ordered Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to seek an immediate report on the incident.
