The Indian delegation was led by Commerce Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, while the Bangladeshi delegation was led by Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce.

Both sides discussed various issues including development of railway infrastructure, port infrastructure, joint study on Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), border haat, regional connectivity through multi-modal transport, harmonization of standards and mutual recognition agreement. discussed extensively. , stated in the press release.

The two delegations also discussed the progress of bilateral relations between the two countries in recent years, with an emphasis on developing railway infrastructure as well as logistics facilities to enhance commerce between the two countries.

Notably, Bangladesh is India’s sixth largest trading partner. Earlier on Wednesday, the 14th meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade (JWG) at the level of Joint/Additional Secretaries of India and Bangladesh was held to discuss issues of mutual interest. It was also agreed that the next meetings of the JWG and the Commerce Secretaries would be held in Bangladesh at mutually convenient dates. (ANI)
