Barcelona Lionel Messi

New Delhi: Legendary striker Lionel Messi can rock the football world with his fairytale return to his boyhood club Barcelona. Rumors of Messi taking a step back are rife as FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez calls on president Joan Laporta to investigate the matter.

Xavi maintains an excellent relationship with Messi and is convinced that Lionel’s return can bring a lot to the club both financially and sportingly, as the coach believes that Messi still has many years left in his boots.

Earlier, Laporta had said in an interview: “I hope that Messi’s chapter is not over. I think it is our responsibility to try to find a moment to fix this chapter, which is still open, so that it comes out as it should, and that it has a more beautiful ending.”

Barcelona The legend Lionel Messi left the club in 2021

Messi left Barcelona in 2021 after a long contract renewal process that never materialized. The Argentine’s departure left a wound in the club that ended up affecting them financially, with PSG coming in and making a lot more money from sponsorships.

It left Barcelona without a global star and a brand with which many companies wanted to be associated.

It was the first time in two decades that the Catalan club finished with absolutely nothing in the trophy cabinet, ending a period of dominance. The Blaugrana had problems scoring goals, and they suffered in the Champions League. Xavi breathed new life into the team when he arrived helping the team finish second in La Liga.

The coach believes that Messi can still offer a lot on the pitch given his experience and quality. Xavi believes it is reasonable for Leo to return and lead the team in the near future.

However, in the current scenario, Hernández said: “There is no point in talking about Leo Messi’s return to Barcelona right now, he has a contract with PSG, so it’s impossible.”

But he also does not deny the future possibility of this fairy tale becoming reality. “We will see in the future. Laporta had already said that he hoped that Messi would not yet be the end of Barça”, added Hernández.

The 7-time Ballon d’Or winner has represented the Catalans in 776 matches in all competitions, scoring a record 670 goals and providing 302 assists.
