BCCI Secretary Jay Shah ‘delighted’ as IPL 2021 continues to register significant growth in viewership

A Shah revealed that IPL 2021 has attracted 380 million TV viewers till Match 35 (Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings on 24 September).

New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Thursday expressed excitement as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 continues to entertain fans across the globe.

Jay Shah revealed that IPL 2021 has attracted 380 million TV viewers till Match 35 (Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings on September 24). “I am happy to report that #IPL2021 is registering a significant growth in viewership. 380 million TV viewers (till match 35) in a single phase, 12 million more than in 2020. Thank you all. It’s only from here on out. Will be more exciting. @IPL @StarSportsIndia @BCCI,” tweeted Jay Shah.

The TV audience aggregation is actually higher since 2018 than in the previous three editions of the tournament. The second phase of IPL 2021 got off to a brisk start and the audience engagement level also stood at a healthy average of 32 per cent. On per match basis – equivalent to IPL 2020.

IPL 2021 consumes 242 billion minutes, including Star Sports’ pre-match programming.

With at least six teams vying for a place in the playoffs, the league stage of the tournament promises to go down on the wire, creating even more excitement among cricket fans, which will reach its peak on October 15 . When the final of the tournament is played. (ANI)
