Chandigarh: Sources said that after resigning as Punjab Chief Minister, senior Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh will visit Delhi on Tuesday and meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda. Speculations are rife that Amarinder Singh is likely to join the BJP.

Later, Singh’s media advisor Raveen Thukral clarified that the former chief minister was on a ‘private visit’ and was about to meet some friends and would also vacate Kapurthala’s house for the new CM.

Amarinder Singh resigned as chief minister of Punjab on 18 September, declaring that he felt “humiliated” and said he would replace state Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu as the next chief minister or face of the party in the assembly elections. I will not accept. Sidhu was made the state Congress president earlier this year, despite protests from Amarinder Singh.

Amarinder Singh was replaced by Charanjit Singh Channi as the Chief Minister of Punjab. Prior to this, Amarinder Singh, a former Army officer, had served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2002–07.
