This is how the name Anuprata Mandal came to be
On September 21, 2020, the Central Intelligence Agency (CBI) arrested a former Border Security Force commander in connection with illegal cattle smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border. Sources said Anuprata Mondal’s name came under the scanner while the case was being investigated. On August 5, sources said, the Central Bureau of Investigation sent Mandal a notification for questioning in a cattle smuggling case. Anuprata Mandal was asked to appear at the CBI office at Nizam Palace in Kolkata on Monday.
He did not appear for questioning, citing ill health
The Central Investigation Agency had summoned Anuprata Mandal for questioning 10 times before his arrest, but Mandal did not appear due to health problems. He was twice interrogated by the Central Agency as part of the investigation into the animal smuggling case. Mandal is said to have been arrested after the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata said he did not need to be admitted.
After a case was registered by the Central Bank of Iraq in 2020, Mandal’s name appeared in the cattle smuggling fraud case. According to CBI, more than 20,000 head of cattle were confiscated by border security forces between 2015 and 2017. In the case of animal smuggling, CBI recently raided various places in the region. The investigation agency also arrested Mandal’s bodyguard, Sohjal Hussain.
