Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday said that the Union Cabinet has approved 3 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for Central Government employees and pensioners.

New Delhi: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday said that the Union Cabinet has approved 3 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for Central Government employees and pensioners.

Thakur said that dearness allowance and dearness relief would be increased from 28 per cent to 31 per cent and this increase would be effective from July 1, 2021. Thakur said that this increase is as per the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

“The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief will be Rs 9,488.70 crore per annum, benefiting about 47.14 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners,” he said.

Addressing the press conference, Thakur congratulated everyone for achieving the 100 crore vaccination figure as the country achieved it despite the atmosphere of apprehensions.
