As per the latest order from the Centre, the BSF, which was empowered to operate only up to fifteen kilometers in the states of Punjab, West Bengal and Assam, is now authorized to extend its jurisdiction to 50 km without any obstruction or further permission. has gone. However, its jurisdiction has been cut to 20 km in five northeastern states- Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya, where it had jurisdiction up to 80 km. Similarly, the jurisdiction of BSF in Gujarat has been reduced from 80 to 50 km.

In Rajasthan, the BSF’s jurisdiction will remain the same at 50 km.
