Cinema halls and theaters to reopen in Maharashtra from October 22


Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced on Saturday that cinema halls and theaters will open from October 22.Ra In which all covid protocols are being followed. The announcement further states that, the government is preparing a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), which will be issued later.

Before the announcement, the Maharashtra CM held a meeting with Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Pradeep Vyas and filmmakers Rohit Shetty, Kunal Kapoor, Markand Deshpande, Subodh Bhave and several dignitaries from cinema halls.

Alok Tandon, CEO of multiplex cinema hall chain, welcomed the move and said that, it is a very welcome step for the people of Maharashtra that cinema halls are going to reopen, we are committed to ensure the safety of their guests and staff. are completely ready. . He also requested the filmmakers to wait for theatrical release instead of going for OTT release.

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty also announced that his much-awaited film ‘Sooryavanshi’ will release on Diwali and will clash with Marvel’s ‘Eternal’. Earlier Akshay Kumar starrer this film was scheduled to release on Eid 2021, but due to the lockdown, the release of the cinema hall was stopped.

Many films are waiting for the cinema halls to open for their release, including some big ones like ’83 The Film’, KGF Chapter 2, Aamir Khan’s ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’.

According to the state health department, a total of 3286 cases were reported in Maharashtra on Friday, in which 3911 were cured and 51 people died. Maharashtra has registered over 65.37 lakh COVID cases since the start of the pandemic.
