New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday laid the foundation stone of Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences at Mastuana Sahib to occupy an area of ​​25 acres at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 345.00 crore rupees

Reiterating his government’s firm commitment to provide quality medical facilities to the people, the Chief Minister said that this institute will be a step forward in this direction. He said that this project will be a humble and dignified tribute to the great religious leader Sant Attar Singh, who propagated the message of universal love, peace and communal harmony to the people. Bhagwant Mann has also recalled the immense contribution of Sant Attar Singh in spreading the light of education throughout the region.

The Chief Minister envisioned that this university with MBBS seats will emerge Sangrur as a center of medical education in the entire region. Bhagwant Mann said that apart from the construction of the academic block, the project will include upgradation of the existing Sangrur Civil Hospital from 220 beds to 360 beds, construction of nursing school, separate hostels for girls and senior/junior boys, sports court and student pavilion, open. Teatre Aire for extracurricular activities, teachers’ residence and shopping complex. Likewise, he said that the widening of the approach road from NH-07 to the State Institute of Medical Sciences by 5.50 m and 7.00 m, including Quatre Lanning, is also part of the project from the road in front of the Institute.

The Chief Minister expressed the hope that this upcoming Medical Institute will act as a pivot for imparting quality health services and medical education to Punjab in general and Malwa region in particular. He told the officers to ensure that the work on this ambitious project was completed in a limited manner and added that the work on the Medical College will be completed on March 31, 2023 and the academic session will begin from on April 1 Bhagwant Mann also asked the officers to ensure that highest quality standards are followed during the construction of this state-of-the-art medical institute.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government is formulating various development oriented and people oriented schemes for the welfare of the people. He said that there is no dearth of funds for this purpose and a boost will be given to the entire development of the state. Bhagwant Mann assured the people that no stone will be left unturned for the progress of the state and the prosperity of his people.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to provide social security to the people. He said the pension will be disbursed directly to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps. Similarly, Bhagwant Mann said that food security will also be provided to people by providing Atta-Dal at their homes.

On this occasion, Cabinet Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema, Aman Arora, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Lal Chand Kataruchak, MPs Narinder Kaur Bharaj, Barinder Goyal, Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra, Jameel Ur Rehman, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Dr. Balbir Singh Ugoke and Labh among others were also present.
