The tribal leader has alleged that the Zila Panchayat chief and his goons vandalized his car and beat him up when he was reaching Khergam, Navsari, for a meeting.
The goons were making casteist slurs
He further alleged that the Zila Panchayat head and the miscreants hurled casteist insults at him and said, “You are becoming a leader being an Adivasi. I will not let an Adivasi walk here.”
After the tribal leader was beaten up, a large crowd of protesters gathered in support of the Congress MLA on Saturday night.
The protesters have vowed to block all 14 districts until the Zila Panchayat chief and his goons are nabbed.
Goons belonged to Zila Panchayat none
While talking to ANI, Patel alleged, “The Zila Panchayat chief and his goons vandalized my car and beat me up when I was reaching Khergam, Navsari for a meeting. They said, you are becoming a leader being an Adivasi, we will not spare you; he will not allow an Adivasi to walk here.”
“We will protest here till the Zila Panchayat chief and his goons are caught. Adivasis will block roads in 14 districts till then. Anyone who raises voice under BJP government rule is beaten and sent to jail,” he added .
He sat in protest with adivasi followers
“Four-five people attacked Anant Patel yesterday, after which he sat in protest with his Adivasi supporters. He has been assured that within three days, the culprits will be caught and appropriate action will be taken. The police have been deployed but no untoward incident has occurred. Complaint filed as per rules,” Navsari Sub-Superintendent of Police said.
On Saturday night, protesters set fire to a shop and vandalized the fire engine that arrived at the scene.
