Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar was also scheduled to join the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ today, but will not be able to do so due to his deteriorating health. The head of the NCP is currently admitted to the hospital where he has been undergoing treatment.
However, Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray will be present at the foot march to support Gandhi to interact with the locals.
The Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress are allies that had formed a coalition government after the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly polls in 2019. The leadership was handed over to Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray (Uddhav faction), Sharad Pawar and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
Since its arrival in Maharashtra, the Congress covered Nanded district, a stronghold of former chief minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan.
