COVID-19: India reports 10,126 new cases, lowest in 9 months

There has been a decline of about 11.6 percent in daily cases on Monday as compared to the previous day. On Sunday, India recorded 11,451 cases of COVID-19.

New Delhi: With timely tracking, testing and treatment, India has been successful in containing the spread of COVID-19 in the country. On Monday (November 8), 10,126 fresh infections or new cases were reported, the lowest in 266 days.

There has been a decline of about 11.6 percent in daily cases on Monday as compared to the previous day. On Sunday, India recorded 11,451 cases of COVID-19.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said that the cumulative infections now stand at 34,377,113.

332 people died of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total number of virus deaths in the country to 4,61,389 so far.

Active cases account for less than 1% of the total cases and currently stand at 0.41 percent. Active cases are the lowest since March 2020.

In the last 24 hours, 11,982 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in India, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,37,75,086.

The current recovery rate is the highest since March 2020 and is now 98.25 percent.

The country’s active caseload is the lowest in 263 days and now stands at 1,40,638.

The daily positivity rate and weekly positivity rate remain below 2 percent for 36 days and 46 days respectively. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 0.93 percent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.25 percent.

India continues to conduct tests for COVID-19. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 10,85,848 samples were tested for COVID-19 on November 8. A total of 61,72,23,931 samples have been tested across the country for the virus.

The vaccination campaign is also in full swing in the country. Under the nationwide vaccination campaign, more than 109.08 crore vaccine doses have been given so far.
