COVID-19: Kerala closes schools for classes up to 9


Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government announced the closure of schools for classes up to 9 as the COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the state. This decision has been taken in the high level meeting held on Friday.

Informed the Chief Minister’s Office, “Kerala government has decided to suspend offline classes till 9th ​​standard. The decision was taken in the high level meeting held today.”

Earlier in the day, local media reports reported that Minister V Shivankutty told reporters that there would be a review meeting chaired by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to discuss the functioning of schools amid rising cases of coronavirus.

As of January 14, 2022, there are 64,529 active cases of COVID-19. According to media reports, at least 10,000 cases are being registered regularly in the state.
