Cremation today at 3pm in Saifai


New Delhi: Many political leaders are expected to arrive in Saifai to attend the funeral of former chief minister and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. He breathed his last at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Monday at the age of 82. The cremation and last rites of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav will take place at Saifai village in Uttar Pradesh at 3 pm on Tuesday.

The body of Samajwadi Party patron saint leader Mulayam Singh Yadav arrived at his hometown Saifai village in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district on Monday evening (October 10). Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, former MP Dharmendra Yadav and other family members were present when the body was taken out of an ambulance, besides a large number of people waiting for the lifeless remains at the spot. Mulayam’s brother Shivpal Yadav was also present. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended and paid his respects after the body was placed on display for final ‘darshans’.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday paid his last respects to Mulayam Singh Yadav in the presence of the SP supremo’s family. The UP CM is expected to attend Yadav’s funeral on Tuesday, along with other ministers of the UP government. Many of the country’s political leaders are expected to attend today’s funeral.

Besides Yogi Adityanath, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also confirmed that he will fly to Saifai to attend Mulayam Singh Yadav’s cremation along with several other national political leaders.

BSP chief Mayawati is also expected to be present to pay her last respects to Mulayam Singh Yadav. On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah traveled to Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital as his family confirmed the news of Yadav’s death.

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s family had close ties with RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, so he along with his son Tejashwi Yadav is expected to be present at Saifai village for the cremation on Tuesday.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was admitted to Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital on August 22 after facing difficulty in breathing. He had already gone through several illnesses and was admitted to the intensive care unit in critical condition.

The SP supremo and former Uttar Pradesh CM has been confirmed to have passed away on October 10 at around 8:30 am. The news of his death was also confirmed by the social media pages of the Samajwadi Party and his son Akhilesh Yadav.
