Dance-drama on life of Raja Rammohun Roy at Central Vista


New Delhi: A dance drama based on the life of Raja Rammohun Roy, called the father of modern Indian society, will be staged on the evening of November 5 and 6, 2022 at Kartavya Path and India Gate (Central Vista).

Titled ‘Yugpurush Raja Rammohun Roy’, the program is based on the theme ‘Nari Samman’ and is organized by the Raja Ram Mohun Roy Library Foundation.

The Ministry of Culture, Government of India has launched a year-long celebration on 22 May 2022 to mark the 250th birth anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

40 artists will participate in the show directed by the well-known choreographer Neelay Sengupta.

Based on the life of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, the dance drama brings the audience up close to his great works, lofty ideals and philosophy of life. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. and admission is absolutely free for everyone.

Born in Radhanagar, Bengal on 22 May 1772, Raja Rammohun Roy played a remarkable role in religious, social and political reforms in India. He was the founder of Brahmo Samaj and always advocated modern and scientific approach.
