New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met China’s State Councilor and Defense Minister General Li Shangfu in New Delhi on Thursday. The two ministers had a frank discussion about the developments in the India-China border areas and bilateral relations.

The Minister of Defense stated emphatically that the development of relations between India and China is based on the establishment of peace and tranquility at the borders. He added that all issues at LAC should be resolved in accordance with existing bilateral agreements and commitments. He reiterated that the violation of existing agreements has eroded the entire basis of bilateral relations, and separation at the border is logically followed by de-escalation.

The Chinese defense minister will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) defense ministers’ meeting in Delhi on April 28.
