Delhi LG allows over 300 businesses to operate round the clock

New Delhi: According to LG office officials, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has accepted a proposal early next week to allow over 300 businesses, including restaurants and hotels, to operate round the clock.

The action is expected to improve the nightlife in the city. According to officials, the 314 establishments that have been given permission to operate round the clock include restaurants as well as online retailers, delivery services and transport centres.

According to reports, of the 314 businesses that have been allowed to operate round the clock, some had requested licenses from the government till 2016, and their applications are pending for the past six years.

The notification which will allow them to work round the clock has been ordered by the LG.

Accepting the request, Saxena expressed a “very critical view” of the Labor Department’s “extreme delay, ad-hocism, unpredictability and undue discretion” in handling the petitions submitted by firms for these exemptions.

In order to encourage a welcoming environment for investors and businesses in Delhi, the LG has mandated that such petitions be dismissed within a stipulated time frame.
