Gautam received criticism after his appearance at a religious event earlier this week where hundreds of people allegedly denounced Hinduism and converted to Buddhism.
A video of the incident, which later went viral, showed her attending the event on October 5, when hundreds took a vow to embrace Buddhism and not worship Hindu deities as gods.
Following this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched an attack against the AAP and demanded the dismissal of the minister.
