Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam resigns

New Delhi: Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Rajendra Pal Gautam on Sunday resigned from his post.

The resignation comes after his appearance at a religious event held in New Delhi recently.

After submitting his resignation, Gautam said, “Such an issue has arisen out of repeated oaths by several crore people of the country. BJP has made it an issue, trying to insult me and my party.

Gautam received criticism after his appearance at a religious event earlier this week where hundreds of people allegedly denounced Hinduism and converted to Buddhism.

A video of the incident, which later went viral, showed her attending the event on October 5, when hundreds took a vow to embrace Buddhism and not worship Hindu deities as gods.

Following this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched an attack against the AAP and demanded the dismissal of the minister.
