Deserted see Kerala HC, lawyers protest


New Delhi: The Kerala High Court on Monday found empty courtrooms due to a protest by the Kollam Bar Association. The lawyers have organized a demonstration by police personnel against the lawyer.

Barring a few judges and court officials, all lawyers practicing in the Ernakulam High Court and District Courts showed solidarity with the victim by staging a protest.

In an official notification, the Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association (KHCAA) hinted that the state government has not considered their compliance. As a result, lawyers boycotted their duties on Tuesday.

The case started with the alleged violence against advocate P Jayakumar in a case related to a road accident. He accused police personnel of ill-treatment during his arrest.

After the incident, several lawyers protested at the district court premises in Kollam. However, the demonstration ended in a confrontation between angry lawyers and the police.

Since then, several demonstrations have been organized, demanding justice from the victim’s lawyer. Kollam Bar Association members have demanded strict action against the accused police officer.
