There is no doubt that Kurien Sahib’s Amul company is doing an excellent job of delivering dairy products to hundreds of people today. Our country has made significant advances in milk production worldwide, and Dr. Verghese deserves full credit for that.
dr Kurien invented a new technology and manufactured buffalo milk powder in 1955. It was he who made buffalo powder instead of cow powder for the first time in history.
How did Kurien Sahib start milk production?
Kurien Sahib took over the work of a dairy company called Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited (KDCMPUL) in 1949 to increase milk production in India. When Verghese took over curia there was a revolution in milk production. Subsequently, the cooperatives KDCMPUL were founded. In view of the increased milk production, the option of building a milk storage facility was chosen.
How was Amul chosen as a name?
Kurien considered renaming KDCMPUL into something that would be recognized worldwide. To achieve this, at the suggestion of all employees of his plant, he changed the name from KDCMPUL to Amul, which means priceless. More than 16 million milk producers in the country are now affiliated with large milk producers such as Amul Plant. These milk producers work with approximately 1,85,903 dairy cooperatives in India to supply their milk to Amul. Because of this, today amul manufacturers are the most widespread in the country.
What honors did Dr. Forgotten Curiae?
The Indian government awarded Dr. Verghese Curiae, the founder of Amul, the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He has also received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership, the Carnegie Watler World Peace Prize, and America’s International Person of the Year. dr Verghese Kurien, the father of the White Revolution, died on September 9, 2012, but he left India with something he will be remembered for.
