new Delhi: As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retains power in four states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said experts will say today’s election verdict will decide the outcome of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“When we formed the government in 2019 (at the Centre), the ‘experts’ said it was because of the 2017 victory (in Uttar Pradesh)… I believe the same ‘experts’ would say that in 2022. The election results will decide the fate of the 2024 national elections,” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing party workers from the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

As the Bharatiya Janata Party gears up to form governments in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, Prime Minister Modi said it is because of the BJP’s persistence of pro-poor and pro-active governance.

He said, “Earlier people could not reach the governments for basic facilities like electricity, gas and water. Many announcements and schemes were made for the poor, but the benefits of such schemes did not reach the poor who were entitled to it and who were not entitled to it. It was needed.”

“The BJP understands that good governance and implementation of such schemes is very important and we work to ensure that,” he said.

Calling the victory “Victory 4”, the prime minister thanked all voters for “participating in the festival of democracy and ensuring the BJP wins”.

“BJP workers had promised me that Holi would start from March 10 this year and they have kept their promise. These workers worked round the clock and were successful in winning the trust of the people in all the states,” he said.

“BJP’s vote share has increased even after being in power in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Goa. BJP’s seats have increased in the state,” he said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to return to power with a comfortable majority for an unprecedented second term in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is poised for a historic victory in Punjab. (ANI)
