New Delhi: Indian cricketer Ruturaj Gaikwad got an opportunity in the first ODI against South Africa. However, his performance was not convincing as he failed to score 19 runs after playing 42 balls.

India lost the first ODI against South Africa
India lost the first ODI to South Africa on Thursday night by nine runs despite good efforts from the Men in Blue. After winning the toss, India elected to bowl first. Temba Bavuma led South Africa with 249 runs in his 40 overs.
Team India came to the ground chasing a target of 250 runs and did not have a good start as they lost the early points of the opening match. Shikhar Dhawan (4) and Subhuman Gill (3) departed early within five overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad then followed the openers for 19 runs. Ishan Kishan came into the field but could not score more than 20 runs.
