Farmers' protest taken over by criminals, they are functioning like Taliban: BJP's Dushyant Gautam on Singhu border killing


New Delhi [India], Oct 16 (ANI): After the body of a person was found near the Singhu border, where farmers have been protesting against three agricultural laws since November last year, Punjab BJP in-charge and national general secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam on Friday accused the farmers of . Some criminals have taken over the protests, saying the rising crime rate at their protest sites suggests they are acting like the Taliban.

“Farmers’ protests have been taken over by some criminals. In the past, a woman was raped and murdered. With the incidents of crime rising at the farmers’ protest site, it seems that they are like the Taliban. are working and spreading extremism in the country,” Gautam said.

The BJP leader also questioned the Congress party’s silence on the issue. He said, “The Congress was on its toes at the time of Lakhimpur Kheri violence because there is a BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. There were attacks on many Dalits in Rajasthan but the Congress party is silent on that issue.”

Gautam further said, “Violence by anti-social elements is increasing and attacks on Dalits are taking place in Congress-ruled states like Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.”

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hansraj said that earlier on Friday, a man’s hand and leg was found chopped off at police barricades at the protest site of farmers near Singhu border. The DSP said that an FIR has been registered in the matter.

The youth has been identified as Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Cheema Khurd village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. Police said the deceased, around 35-36 years old, who worked as a labourer, has no criminal record or affiliation with any political party. (ANI)
