New Delhi: A few days after Shahid Afridi’s statement, another former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has shared his opinion on Indian star player Virat Kohli’s retirement.
While Afridi gave a career ‘hint’ to Kohli, Akhtar has taken the liberty of predicting his retirement. While talking to India.com, Akhtar that he might retire after the T20 World Cup.
“Kohli might retire after the T20 World Cup. You can do this to extend its longevity in the other formats. If I were him, I would have looked at the bigger picture and called,” said the Pakistani legend.

India’s star player Virat Kohli finally returned to form after a long wait of many months. Scoring his maiden T20I century and finishing as the second highest run-scorer in the 2022 Asia Cup, he has shown his fire and form at the back. Amidst the ongoing discussions about his form, former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has made a controversial statement.

While talking to the media, Shahid Afridi hinted at a suggestion for former Indian cricketer Virat Kohli that he should now retire from international cricket before being dropped.
“The way Virat has played, the start he had in his career, there was struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He’s a champion and I think there comes a stage where you head towards retirement. But in this scenario, the aim should be to go out to the maximum,” Afridi said on a TV show.
