Gadkari lays foundation stone for 8 highway projects worth 3000 Cr in AP


New Delhi: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stones of 8 national highway projects worth Rs 3 billion in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh.

“Once the projects are completed, they will provide greenfield road connectivity to Kakinada SEZ, SEZ Port, Fishing Harbor and Kakinada Anchorage Port, which will smooth the export of rice, seafood, oilmeal, iron ore, biofuel, granite etc through Kakinada Port,” the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement on Thursday.

The minister said that the road projects include construction of 5 bridges at Kaikaram, Morampudi, Undarajavaram, Tetali and Jonnada.

Once the project is completed, it will provide safe and smooth traffic movement for places like Namavaram, Satellite City, Mandapeta, Ramchandrapuram, Kakinada, Undarajavaram, Nidadavolu, Tanuku Town and Kaikaram, the release said, adding that special features will be ensured of security. for the correction of black points.

The minister said that the other 3 projects including 4-laning of Vakalapudi-Uppada-Annavaram and Samarlakota-Achampeta Junction and construction of 2-lane with paved edges from Rampachodavaram to Koyyuru will provide road connectivity to religious places like Samarlakota, Annavaram Bikkavolu , Ryali and Pithapuram.

The project will also provide road connectivity to tribal areas like Araku and Lambasinghi and important tourist destinations of Andhra Pradesh like Arakku Valley & Caves.

It would also provide safe, better and fast intra-state connectivity through Kakinada and Alluri Sitharama districts, the minister added.
