General MM Naravane inspects Army Day parade


New Delhi: On the occasion of Army Day, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane inspected the traditional parade organized at Cariappa Parade Ground in the national capital.

General Naravane also presented awards and unit citations. Sena Medals were presented to Major Anil Kumar and Major Mahinder Singh. Meanwhile, the Indian Army on Saturday released a video showcasing the valor of the Army on the occasion of Army Day.

Earlier in the day, the Chief of the Army Staff, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary and Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar paid obeisance at the National War Memorial in Delhi to mark Army Day.

The chiefs of the armed forces also laid wreaths at the war memorial.

Army Day is observed every year on 15 January to commemorate the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army – Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings to soldiers, veterans and their families on the occasion of Army Day. Acknowledging the bravery and professionalism displayed by the Indian Army, Prime Minister Modi said that words cannot do justice to their invaluable contribution towards national security.
