Germany to deliver 1,000 anti-tank weapons, 500 ‘Stinger’ surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine

Kiev (Ukraine): Amid Russia’s ongoing military operations in Ukraine, Germany will arm Ukraine in a major policy change after resisting the country’s previous calls for defensive weapons.

CNN reported that in its coalition agreement, Germany’s government had agreed to a restrictive arms export policy that does not allow the delivery of any weapons to areas of crisis.

The delivery of such weapons also has historical connotations after World War II.

German Chancellor Olaf said, “The Russian attack marks a change in times. It is our duty to support Ukraine as much as we can against Putin’s invasion forces. That’s why we send 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stingers to our friends in Ukraine.” Will deliver missiles.” Scholz tweeted on Saturday after meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nauseda.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted, “Germany announces the provision of anti-tank grenade launchers and Stinger missiles to Ukraine. Keep it up, Chancellor @OlafScholz! Anti-war coalition in action!”
