Harvey Elliott has signed a new long-term contract extension

New Delhi: Liverpool have announced they will extend the contract of teenage sensation Harvey Elliott. The 19-year-old midfielder, also known as ‘Wonderkid’, arrived from Fulham in 2019 for a court-ordered fee of up to £4.3m.

Since then, he has played 22 games for the Reds. The midfielder’s new contract is said to last until 2027.

“It’s always nice to know that I’m going to be here for many more years, which is always a great thing because it’s my boys’ club and nothing in the world makes me happier and more excited than this.” Elliott told Liverpool’s official website.

“We’ve won so much already and hopefully we can win so much more, so just to know that I’m going to be here again for a long time – like I said, it’s always a great feeling for myself and my family (and ) as Liverpool supporters, there’s no better place in this world than to play for Liverpool , to put the jersey on and go out there and play for the team and the fans. I hope there will be many more memories with it, but I’m so excited to put pen to paper and be here a lot longer,” he added.

Elliott suffered a broken left ankle in a Premier League match against Leeds United in September, which sidelined him for five months.

After returning to action at the end of last season, Elliott has featured from the bench in both of Liverpool’s games this season against Manchester City in the Community Shield and last week’s Premier League opener with Fulham.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised the England U-21s, saying: “There’s so much to like here. For us as a club, we get to continue our journey with a special young player who has already made a big impact at Liverpool FC.

“Harvey took a big knock last season, but like every experience he’s had so far, he used it to grow as a person and as a player,” he added.

For Harvey, he gets to continue to develop, improve and hopefully fulfill his incredible talent at a club he has always supported.

“We are delighted to announce that Harvey Elliott has signed a new long-term contract with the club!” Liverpool said in their announcement on their official Twitter.
