According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of continually lowering mercury in mountainous regions will be seen across northern and central India in the coming days. Several states in the country, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana and Odisha, are expected to experience an increase in cold during the next day or two.

In the next couple of days, IMD is forecasting light to moderate rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to the Meteorological Department, isolated light to moderate rains may occur in one or two locations on the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Punjab. Over Rajasthan, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, light rain is likely. It snows and rains in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Weather for the next 24 hours

Today, rain is expected in coastal Andhra Pradesh, inland Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rayalasema, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, according to private forecast organization Skymet Weather.

Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Jammu Kashmir Snow and rain are expected in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. With the onset of dry and cold northwest winds today, minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to fall over northwest and central India.
