Preeti’s mother Saraswati told that her daughter is badly scorched. When the daughter’s three children protested, they were also killed. He was told that his son-in-law Anoop’s mental condition was bad. Because of this, the mother-in-law used to kill her daughter.

According to SP Tehri Navneet Singh Bhullar, a case has been registered against the accused mother-in-law in New Tehri Kotwali and they have been arrested. After getting the woman medical, she is being referred to Dehradun Burn Unit Coronation.
